Hi Tom,
I'd almost be willing to bet that you have an SD35, not an SC35.
Here's a picture of my module:

Hi Group,

I'm relatively new and don't know if this as been
asked before. I'd like to know what kind of synth
modules members of this group are using with BIAB for
performance.
I have a Roland SC35, an early Sound Canvas with
floppy drive, that sounds fair but the pianos are a
bit brittle sounding and forget about the sax sounds.
I'm wondering if a new module would greatly improve
the feel from the BIAB rhythm section and which ones
are user favorites.
Regards,
Tom

Tom,

There are only two which are worth the price of admission. Technics
and Kentron Labs.

All the rest are wanna-be's. Listen for yourself and you will readily
hear the difference in quality.

stop and go songs

Brian Boss

I have been making backing tracks with Band in a Box. Chuck Berry and Freddie King type songs these songs are stop and go songs. You know the music goes and then stops for a bar. Is their way to program a Band in Box song so you can create those stop and go moments ? I dont know how do do it.

placing chords on certain beats

Brian Boss

I use band in a box for that Chuck Berry Johnny Be Goode pattern Bb-Bb6-Bb-Bb-6 boogie pattern. Is there a way I can put the Bb on the beats 1 and the 1+ and the Bb6 on the 2 then the Bb on the beat 2+, 3 and 3+ and then Bb6 on the 4 + 8----8----10------8----------

Muting the melody

Brian Boss

I have downloaded Midis from the Internet. What is the best program to intpret and analyse the chords to these midis? I have been using Band in A Box. Is there a way to mute the melody or bass or rythmn to these midis? I use these midis for backing tracks as I solo or play the melody over them.

Why do Band in a Box Midis sound different than downloaded MIDIs

Brian Boss

I have been downloading midis and they sound great they have the melodies and chords and sound very close to the original song. My complaint is when Band in a Box interprets these songs they go thru some changes and they end up sounding alot different. And then I hate to have to then find a perfect style like Medium rock even 8ths or something and then they clearly sometimes don't sound much like the original songs.Sometimes the melodies dissapear what was once clearly piano such as LA woman midi by the Doors becomes an organ and the sound of the song changes so much not usually for the better. Is there any way to keep a midi I download from internet, and after interpreting it's chords have it still retain the same sound . I want to burn some midis do these have to be rendered to wave files before I can burn them. I there a program other than Band in Box to change these files to wave. What is it? I want to know a style for Like A Rolling Stone. Anybody know a good style?

Darren Littljeohn <darrenl@...>

I have a lot of the styles, but I don't like them much. For
practising I pick either a swing or a bossa usually. If you want to
generate solos in the style of a particular artist I suppose it could
be useful..

Does anyone have the V10.0 BIAB? Is it any better, as in, easier to
navigate, more organized, less legacy code?

Is it possible to configure the mailer to make all messages from the

it and it's a hastle to keep the mail going to one place now...

You have three options for your message delivery for the group:

Individual emails (default)
Messages are delivered one at a time to your email inbox. This is the
best option if you want to keep up on the latest posts immediately.
Email attachments, if included in a message, will be sent directly to
you.

Daily Digest
Messages are delivered in batches of 25 or daily, whichever comes
sooner. This is the best option if you want to receive fewer mail
messages and don't need up-to-the minute posts in your inbox. Email
attachments are not available in digests.

No Mail / Web Only
This option puts email message delivery on hold, for example while
you are on vacation and this option also permits you to read messages
at the eGroups Web site.

To set any of these options, go to My Groups and choose from the drop-
down list of message delivery options for the group.

Darren,

Unless your outlook is different than mine, your B-in-B mail will come addressed to Band-in-a-Box@..., so all you have to do is set the organizer to filter all mail to this address into another file.  I’ve done it with more than a dozen different lists and it works just fine. It’s just a question of using the drop drown box and changing the from to a to. In fact in Outlook 2000, when the rule is created it offers the option of running it on the whole contents of the inbox (or whatever box you are in).
